World Class delivered production and operational support to global event management specialist PublicisLive, who delivered the First Global Challenge 2019 event, held at the Dubai Festival Arena, 25th – 27th October.
This was the third edition of the major international robotics competition and the first to be held outside of the Americas. It featured more than 1500 contestants from almost 200 countries around the globe. The theme ‘Ocean Opportunities’ encouraged the creation of robots that could clean up oceans and eliminate waste and pollutants.
Managing key areas of the project including event safety, operations, technical and scenic production, World Class’ team of global event professionals were on hand throughout to ensure it was produced to the highest standards. John Adkins, managing director of World Class served as production director with Chris Woodford alongside him as event safety manager, whilst Brian Gowen and Kal Butt supported as production manager and technical production manager, respectively.
Collectively, they oversaw the work of all the suppliers onsite which included: Protec, audio visual and technical; Creative Technology, LED screens; AES, seating; Projex created gaming environments; Simple Solutions, scenic; Al Laith, site infrastructure; Prolab, graphics; Unusual, rigging and RSS, power. Supporting them was World Class’ sister company and global crewing provider Showforce, which supplied international crew chief, crew members and qualified plant operators to assist with an array of tasks.
