World Class Events was appointed by leading brand experience agency, Avant Garde, to assist with the delivery of the spectacular launch of the official Expo 2020 Mascots. With a challenging amount of technical production involved, World Class personnel John Adkins and Brian Gowen, as technical director and project manager respectively, provided a high level of expertise, experience and support to the project. They worked closely with key suppliers Maestra, who delivered the audio visual, lighting and sound and Atlas Exhibitions who create the scenic elements.

Held at the Dubai World Trade Center on 26th September 2019, the impressive ceremony saw the unveiling of the official mascots. They include an eight and nine year old brother and sister, Latifa and Rashid and three robots named Alif, Opti and Terra who represent Expo’s three main themes; opportunity, mobility, and sustainability.

This was the first official event for Expo 2020, it was broadcast live on Dubai TV and attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai and Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, crown prince of Dubai and chairman of the Executive Council.
